Those who know me know I have suffered from sciatica pain for about 10 years or so until about 6 months ago. I tried everything in the book; physical therapy, chiropractor, acupuncture, laser therapy and more! Everything would work for the time being , some more than others, but eventually the pain would come back.

Through the pain I would always tried to stay active by working out and doing yoga. Which seemed to help, however, I wasn’t able to lift any weights, so my workouts consisted of only cardio and stretching. Even running for me was hard. But today I  am able to run, lift weights that I am able to lift and be pain free.

How am I pain free? My boyfriends dad also suffers from sciatica and referred me over to a friend of his that treats people with conditions like mine on the side. (He is now retired) He treats me with a method called Graston Technique. The guy I go to uses his hands and fingers, but if you go to a professional place ,they use their hands also but also with  a type of instrument to massage and scrape the area. The instrument breaks down scar tissue and fascia restrictions increasing blood flow and mobility.

This technique can be very, very painful and may even leave you with brusises depending of the severity of your scar tissue. I would be in tears getting worked on, as well as screaming in pain. But when it was all done, I felt the biggest relief of my life. And that was not feeling any pain!

Along with this technique, I do yoga weekly in a class as well as right before bed. I also am able lift light weights, nothing heavy until I know my body is strong enough too. Also, a positive attitude and healthy lifestyle goes a long way on how your body feels.

Here is more information on Graston Technique and find a location near you! I highly recommend this treatment! If you have any questions, please comment below or email me!

Keep note, everyone’s body is different and heals at their own pace and in different ways. This technique worked wonders for me! I hope it does for you too!

As for my outfit, I love wearing active wear, even when I am just running errands. Cute active wear also makes it easier to want to actually workout! Forever21 has a cute and affordable activewear line that these leggings and tank top are from for less that $25! Not only is it affordable, these leggings are stretchable making it easy to stretch and move around in, paired with one of my favorite pairs of nikes.
